:: Wine Museums, Combining tradition and modernity, the Douro Museum, located in a rehabilitated eighteenth-century building in Peso da Régua, was formerly the headquarters of the Company General of Agriculture of the Upper Douro Vineyards, established by the Marquis of Pombal in 1756. It represents the collective memory and identity, as well as the natural and cultural heritage of the Douro wine region, a UNESCO World Heritage.
The origins of Quinta do Vallado, established in 1716, are associated with the legendary Dona Antónia Adelaide Ferreira, affectionately called “Ferreirinha”. It is one of the 33 “Quintas” managed by Douro women and it still belongs to her descendents.
Quinta das Carvalhas is one of the oldest, largest and most spectaculars in Douro region. From its top it is possible to view the Douro River from a 180º perspective, with an unique landscape.
